Fire Works and Air Pollution

I was bit disturbed when I realized the aftermath of fire works on our environmental air quality .Recently we have witnessed lot of fire works which claimed to set records . I'm bit confused and not sure whether the people behind this spectacular pyrotechnic display would ever have thought about the air pollution this can contribute to our environment .

Critics always exist everywhere , some look at it as a sheer waste of money as we are passing through the middle of global financial crunch , some will look it at the air pollution it can contribute , some will look it at to find an alternative way of performing this fireworks during exceptional celebrations . Guess , where you stand for ???? Well , I don't have any locus - stand - I to say that i belong to any of the above section , but wish to stand for the second and third section .

Fire works involves gun powder which comprise of charcoal, calcium and sulphur compounds to shoot up in the air and explode . Soon after the explosion , as the illuminated display fade ,we could always see the thick smog, dusty air suspended in the air , which contribute the air pollution .

One has to analyze scientifically the concentration of the particulate matters that suspends in the air after the fire works . Some local authorities use PM2.5 readings - (a measurement of very tiny airborne particles ,no bigger than 2.5 micrometer in diameter )after the fireworks to see the impact .

I wish new technology to evolve to replace the gunpowder and chemicals involved in fireworks , as we know that fireworks in some exceptional celebration can not be avoided or pursue the event organisors to contribute to the goodwill work of local government to minimize the carbon foot print as a trade -off .
